Configuring AppLock
Friday, November 14th, 2008AppLock is an application that will lock the mobile computer into a specific application (or multiple applications) to prevent the end users from accessing other areas of the device. AppLock is most commonly used to autorun a specific application as well as to hide menu bars and start menus from the user so the user is unable to exit the program.
The below example outlines the process of setting up AppLock to load Internet Explorer. Depending on your own setup requirements, the application you choose may differ.
- Go to Start ›› Settings ›› Control Panel.

- Double click Administration.

- Select the ‘…’ icon next to the Filename textbox.

- Browse to the Programs folder.

- Browse to the Internet Explorer.lnk shortcut. Select it and click OK. No matter what application you choose, BE SURE TO CHOOSE THE .lnk FILE, NOT THE .exe!

- Check the Internet checkbox. Uncheck the Menu and Status checkboxes to hide the menu and the status bar from the user.

- Click OK. The device will now Auto Load into Internet Explorer. To learn how to set the home page of Internet Explorer to your specific application, click here.
- If you will be using multiple applications at once (ie. RFTerm, Internet Explorer, etc), you will click the RIGHT ARROW next to the Clear button and repeat steps 3 thru 5.
NOTE: To exit out of the application that is locked in, you will need to hit CONTROL + SHIFT + a.
