Importing and Exporting Wireless Settings on a Motorola Device
Thursday, October 9th, 2008The following outlines the steps necessary to take the wireless configurations from one MC9090 device and import them to another device that has not been manually configured.
Exporting Wireless Settings on a Symbol/Motorola MC9000
Once you have configured a single MC9090 device for network connectivity you can then export the necessary files to other devices. To export the settings perform the following steps:
- Click the wireless icon in the lower right hand of the screen.

- Select Options
- Expand the drop down box and select Export.
- Select Export Options.
- Select Save. This will store the WCS_OPTIONS.reg file to the device in the specified folder.
- Select Export All Profiles.
- Select Save. This will store the WCS_PROFILES.reg file to the device in the specified folder.
Transferring the WCS_PROFILES.reg & WCS_OPTIONS.reg files from the initial device to your PC.
Once the settings are exported you can transfer them to your PC, and then transfer them to the remaining devices.
- Connect your MC9090 device to your PC via Active Sync. For instructions on doing so click here.
- When prompted to set up a partnership hit cancel.
- Click on the File Explorer icon.
- Browse to the WCS_OPTIONS.reg file and copy it to your desktop.
- Browse to the WCS_PROFILES.reg file and copy it to your desktop.
- Disconnect the MC9000 device from your PC.
Transferring the WCS_PROFILES.reg & WCS_OPTIONS.reg files from your PC to other devices.
It is now time to copy the already-configured .reg files from your PC to the remaining MC9090 devices.
- Connect an unconfigured MC9090 device to your PC via active sync.
- Choose CANCEL when prompted to set up a partnership.
- Click File Explorer within Active Sync.
- Drag the WCS_OPTIONS.reg & WCS_PROFILES.reg files to the MC9090 device and place in the Application folder.
- Warmboot the device.
