Configuring a Cisco 1240 Series Access Point
September 24th, 2008The following steps outline the Miles Data suggested settings on a Cisco 1242 a/b/g access point. These settings will help optimize connectivity with wireless mobile devices.
Perform the following steps after logging into the access point via Internet Explorer. Note: FireFox WILL NOT properly apply the settings.
- Click Radio – G
- Click the Settings Tab and change the following settings:
- Enable Radio
- Disable 1mb
- Require 2mb
- Enable the rest
- Transmitter Power – 17/50
- Select Channel
- Disable Aironet extensions
- Data Beacon Rate - 10
- Click APPLY
- Click the Settings Tab and change the following settings:
- Click Express Security:
- Enter the following network specific values:
- SSID
- If desired, check the ‘Broadcast SSID’ option
- Security Encryption key
- Click APPLY
- Enter the following network specific values:
- Click Express Setup
- Enter the following network specific values:
- Host Name (unique identifier - ie. ap1, ap2, etc)
- IP address
- Subnet
- Gateway
- Disable Aironet extensions B/G
- Disable Aironet extensions A
- Click APPLY
- Enter the following network specific values:
