What Does the Zebra MC9300 Mean for Warehouse Productivity?
Zebra Technologies’ MC9000 has been a market leader in the rugged handheld computing space for years – and now, the company’s best-selling mobile computer has received an upgrade that will bring even more value to the enterprise. The new Android-based MC9300 provides new features and flexibility in a familiar form factor.
While the MC9200 will continue to co-exist with the MC9300 for the foreseeable future, the MC9300 on the Android platform will help your operation meet the ever-increasing demands for warehouse productivity.
Rise to Meet Skyrocketing Demand
E-commerce and the “Amazon Effect” have increased customer expectations when it comes to delivery times and shipping costs. The MC9300 delivers the features you need to meet these rising customer demands.
The MC9300 is based on the familiar Android Oreo 8.1 interface, and Zebra will offer support through the Android Q update. In addition, this is the most rugged MC9000 series ever created, and with a battery life that is double that of the MC9200 on a single charge, it can outlast any device in its class.
The computer also supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0, providing communication at twice the speed and four times the range, but with lower power requirements. It also features integrated NFC communication to pair with ring scanners, mobile printers, headsets and other accessories with just a simple tap.
Create the Perfect Device for Every Job
With the flexibility of the Android platform, companies can customize their deployment using a wide variety of device configuration options. Being able to use the same core device for multiple applications and use cases allows users to maximize efficiency and productivity in the warehouse while simplifying IT management.
Zebra’s MC9300 offers more model options than previous releases, including both a full, glove-friendly physical keypad (alphanumeric, numeric, and functional numeric options available) and a large, 4.3-inch touchscreen display that can work when when wet, as well with both a stylus or finger input. The computer also comes with four different scan engine options that support 1D, 2D and direct part mark reading.
The MC9300 also provides a variety of scan ranges for different use cases, including short, mid- and long-range data capture from as close as 3 inches to as far away as 70 feet. An optional 13MP color rear-facing camera allows mobile workers to document proof of condition or proof of compliance without interrupting their workflow.
The MC9300 is also ready to support the latest in optical communication and location technology, Visible Light Communication (VLC), with an optional front-facing 5MP camera. Using VLC will allow for more dynamic workflows based on associates’ real-time positioning.
In addition, the MC9300 is available in a freezer model that includes a heated scanner exit window, freezer-rated battery, and a sensor for monitoring temperature and humidity. There is also a non-incendive version of the device for use in Class I, II, III, and Division 2 environments.
Ease of Migration, Unmatched Feature Set
With the sunsetting of traditional Windows mobile platforms, companies will need to transition to a new operating system. The MC9300 makes the migration to Android simple while boosting worker productivity and on-the-job satisfaction. Existing terminal emulation (TE) apps can be run right out of the box on the device, which allows workers to transition at their own pace, while the built-in keyboards deliver a familiar data entry experience to employees.
The MC9300 also comes with Zebra’s Mobility DNA, which simplifies everything from data capture to device management for improved productivity. Mobility DNA also provides easy, reliable battery management and helps deliver robust wireless connections. Zebra’s LifeGuard™ for Android™ helps keep devices secure every day they are in service. Users have control over the update process, and the device is supported through the next two versions of Android (P and Q).
The MC9300 provides the proven design of the MC9000 series, combined with the flexibility of Android in a backwards-compatible and future-proof package. The hardware and Zebra’s suite of support tools can help make the transition to Android much easier, while providing the tools that warehouses need to meet ever-growing customer demands.
